About Match with a Therapist.
Finding the right therapist shouldn't require a PhD, a spreadsheet, and six weeks of free time.
Why we exist
Most online directories list whoever pays. Most online-therapy services run you through a quiz that doesn't really understand specialty and route you to whoever's on shift. Neither of these is a real match.
Real matching starts with a curated pool of real specialists, and an algorithm that actually knows the difference between "I do EMDR" and "I'm EMDRIA-certified."
That's what we do.
Our philosophy
Specialty matters more than convenience.
Generic therapy from a generalist works for some people. For others — someone with complex trauma looking for EMDR, a late-diagnosed ADHD adult, a couple considering divorce — the wrong therapist is worse than no therapist. We optimize for the right first match.
Vetting happens before the match, not during it.
The work of curation happens when a therapist joins our directory. License verification, specialty training confirmation, practice details — all checked by a licensed clinician before anyone goes live. When our algorithm sends you a match, you already know the person on the other end is qualified and real.
Matching should be fast.
The longer it takes to find care, the less likely people are to start. We deliver 2–3 matches within a minute of you submitting the form. Not a business day. A minute.
Transparency, not magic.
Therapists are here because they've been vetted, not because they paid. Each match shows you its score breakdown so you can see exactly why someone made your list. If we can't find you a fit, we'll tell you and refer out.
Who we match (right now)
We're currently matching clients in Milwaukee and the surrounding Wisconsin suburbs — Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Wauwatosa, Glendale, Brookfield, and Mequon. We'll expand to Madison, Chicago, Denver, and other markets later this year.
Our specialty focus areas include EMDR, Internal Family Systems, adult ADHD, couples therapy, trauma, anxiety (especially for high-performing professionals), perimenopause and women's midlife care, and executive-level therapy.
If you're not in our current coverage area, we'll still try to help — we have a small network of trusted referral partners outside Wisconsin for specialty cases.
What we're not
We're not a therapy provider. We don't see clients. We don't take insurance. We match you with independently licensed therapists and step out of the way.
We're not a crisis service. If you're in immediate distress, please call or text 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.
We're not affiliated with a single practice. Yes, the founder owns Shoreside Therapies — Shoreside clinicians are listed alongside others, on the same terms, with the same vetting standards.
